The honest short answer
If you are a serious IRL streamer who wants OBS to live in the cloud, with fallback scenes, multiple ingests, and a producer who can run the show without touching your hardware, StreamableRun is the better default. That is our bias and we are saying it out loud.
But IRLHost.gg is not a bad pick, and it is not a Cloud OBS copy of us. According to IRLHost's own pages, its core tier is a relay that passes your phone feed to OBS running on your own PC at home. If you already own a capable home PC, already run OBS there, and mostly want bonding plus automatic BRB switching, that is a legitimate and simple setup.
The real question is not which logo you like. It is where OBS runs when the stream is live, and what happens to your viewers when that place has a bad night.
What IRLHost says it is
Everything in this section is according to IRLHost's own pages. We have not seen independent reviews or test results for IRLHost, so treat these as product claims, not verified performance.
The flow IRLHost describes is phone or encoder, to relay, to your OBS at home, to Twitch, Kick or YouTube. Its "What is IRLHost" post says there are two ways to run it. On the Plus tier, the relay hands your stream to your own OBS over a public address with no port forwarding. On the Pro tier, IRLHost also runs OBS for you in the cloud through a product it calls IRLHost Studio.
The home-PC side revolves around IRLHost Link, a desktop app for Windows and macOS that you pair with a 6-digit code. IRLHost says Link switches OBS to a BRB scene when your signal drops and back when it recovers, can relaunch OBS from your phone or from chat, and reads Twitch or Kick chat for commands like !scene, !start, !stop, and !fix, with permissions you set for broadcaster, mods, or everyone.
On the transport side, IRLHost says it supports SRTLA bonding and relays H.265 from your encoder without modification. It lists Moblin, IRL Pro, Larix, Belabox hardware, OBS Studio, and FFmpeg as compatible encoders.
Dates and regions: two things to check
IRLHost's comparison post against BELABOX Cloud is where the home-PC flow is spelled out most plainly. Its page metadata lists it as published May 17, 2026 and updated July 1, 2026. Read it as a snapshot from mid-2026, not today's word.
There is one inconsistency worth knowing about. The IRLHost home page and How It Works page say two server regions, Germany and Finland. The BELABOX comparison post says five regions: Germany, Finland, Virginia, Oregon, and Singapore. We cannot tell which is current, so if region matters for your travel streams, ask IRLHost before you pay and test from where you actually stream.

The decision that matters: where OBS lives
With a home-PC relay, OBS is a program running on a computer in your house. The relay makes the phone side stronger. Everything after OBS, the scenes, the overlays, the encode to Twitch or Kick, depends on that computer and your home upload staying healthy.
With a persistent Cloud OBS, OBS runs on a server. Your phone sends to an ingest, OBS composes the show, and the output goes to your platforms from the cloud. Your house, your laptop, and your phone battery are all out of the output path.
Neither is wrong. A home PC gives you hardware you control and plugins you already know. A cloud server gives you a show that does not care whether you are asleep in a hotel in another country. SRTLA, which BELABOX's open-source project describes as an SRT transport proxy with link aggregation for bonding, solves a different problem than where OBS runs, which is why the two are often confused. Our earlier guide on Cloud OBS versus an SRTLA relay goes deeper on that split.

Side by side: what you operate on stream day
IRLHost entries come from its own pages. StreamableRun entries are from our product. This is a workflow comparison, not a benchmark, and we have not run head-to-head signal tests.
| Decision point | StreamableRun | IRLHost.gg |
|---|---|---|
| Where OBS runs | On a Cloud Hosted OBS server you start from your dashboard. | On your own PC for the relay tier; in the cloud only on the higher tier with IRLHost Studio. |
| Field ingest | SRT, SRTLA for IRL Pro, Moblin and BELABOX, LiveU SRT, a general SRT[LA] type, and RTMP at in.streamable.run. | One private SRT and SRTLA address that, per its FAQ, serves any encoder that sends SRT or SRTLA. |
| Signal-loss fallback | An Ingest Offline scene, a configurable low-bitrate switch to it, and an optional clips player fallback. | Scene Control switches OBS to your BRB scene when bitrate crosses your threshold, then back on recovery. |
| Who can help remotely | Moderator roles: Admin Moderator, Scene Switcher, and Tools Moderator, each with different reach. | Chat commands for you, mods, or everyone through IRLHost Link, with permissions you define. |
| Destinations | Twitch, Kick, YouTube, and custom RTMP. | Its pages name Twitch, Kick and YouTube Live; multi-destination output is a Studio feature. Check which apply to the relay tier. |
| What you still own | Your phone, app, and cell connection. The show itself is not on your hardware. | Relay tier: a PC that stays awake, updated, and online, plus its upload. |
Destination and ingest lists change. Confirm both in your own account before relying on them for a paid event.
Failure drills: four bad moments, two architectures
Run these on a private stream before you commit to either product. The IRLHost column mixes what its pages state with what follows from where OBS runs. We mark the second kind so you can check it with them.
| Drill | Cloud OBS (StreamableRun) | Home-PC relay (IRLHost relay tier) |
|---|---|---|
| Home internet goes down | Not in the path. OBS and the output are in the cloud, so the show keeps running if your house loses power or upload. | Not covered on IRLHost's pages. Because OBS sits behind your home connection, expect the output to depend on it. Ask them what viewers see. |
| PC sleeps, updates, or crashes | No home PC involved. The server is managed from the dashboard rather than a machine in your house. | IRLHost says Link can relaunch OBS and send crash alerts, and !fix restarts a stuck stream. A sleeping or powered-off PC cannot run Link, so test that case on purpose. |
| Phone or modem drops | Ingest Offline scene appears. Low-bitrate switching defaults to 400 kbps held for 3 seconds, and you can tune both. Clips player can fill the gap. | Per IRLHost, Scene Control typically moves OBS to BRB within about a second of your threshold being crossed and returns when signal recovers. |
| Producer needs to take over | Add an Admin Moderator or Scene Switcher from the owner page. Those roles are locked while the server is running, so set them first. | Mods can use chat commands like !scene BRB. Anything deeper on your PC needs that PC reachable, which is a separate question to ask IRLHost. |
How StreamableRun handles the same drills
A few specifics, since the table is compressed. StreamableRun uses an Ingest Offline scene as the fallback when the field source goes quiet. Separately, there is an offline threshold setting in kilobits per second: if bitrate stays under it for a set number of seconds, the stream switches to the offline scene. The defaults we ship are 400 kbps and 3 seconds, and both are editable.
The clips player is the optional extra layer: when enabled, the fallback scene can show your clips instead of a static card.
Producer access is the other big difference in day-to-day use. The owner assigns roles: Admin Moderator, Scene Switcher, or Tools Moderator. Changes to Admin Moderators and Scene Switchers are locked while the server is running, a deliberate guard so nobody gets added to a live server mid-show. Under the hood, StreamableRun uses the OBS WebSocket connection to drive the clips player, moderator actions, and managed overlays.
OBS documents its WebSocket remote control as built in since OBS Studio 28, and recommends protecting it with a password.

Pick IRLHost if this is you
We would rather you pick the right tool than the one we sell. According to IRLHost's own pages, these are the situations where its relay tier is a sensible fit.
- You already run a powerful home PC with OBS, and you like your scenes, plugins, and capture setup exactly as they are.
- Your PC is reliable, stays on a wired connection, and sits on an upload you trust for the length of your streams.
- You mostly want bonding, a private address that skips port forwarding, and automatic BRB switching, not a rebuilt production setup.
- You are comfortable being the on-call tech for your own PC when something freezes, using !fix or walking back to it.
- You want a European-hosted relay. IRLHost says its servers run on 100 percent green energy, with the region discrepancy noted above.
Pick StreamableRun if this is you
StreamableRun is built around the cloud being the show. These are the cases where that matters most.
- You stream while traveling, in hotels, at events, or anywhere your home PC and house internet are not part of your life that week.
- You work with a producer or moderators who need to switch scenes or run the show while you are walking and filming.
- You want a fallback that is part of the product, with an offline scene, a bitrate trigger, and clips, instead of something you assemble.
- You run more than one camera or phone and want multiple ingests feeding one show.
- You do not want a home PC to be a single point of failure, or to leave it running all week for streams that happen on weekends.
Setup path on StreamableRun
The path is short. Open your server dashboard, add an ingest, and choose the type that matches your app: Moblin or IRL Pro for most phone streamers. StreamableRun can generate a Moblin deep link so the stream URL fills in on your phone instead of being typed by hand.
The ingest host is in.streamable.run. SRT arrives on port 9000 and SRTLA on port 5000. Latency defaults are tuned per type, with Moblin set to 4,200 ms and BELABOX at 800 ms. Treat those as starting points, then run a private test walk before you go live.
Next, connect your destinations. StreamableRun sends the Cloud OBS output to Twitch, Kick, YouTube, or a custom RTMP target. Set your Ingest Offline scene and low-bitrate threshold, assign any moderators while the server is off, and then start the server. The Moblin and IRL Pro setup guides cover the phone side screen by screen.
Questions to ask any home-OBS relay before you commit
These are the gaps we could not close from public pages, and they apply to any relay-to-home-PC product, not only IRLHost.
- What do viewers see if the PC loses internet, not just the phone?
- Does the fallback scene still switch if OBS itself is frozen rather than closed?
- Which regions are live right now, and which one will my phone actually connect to when I travel?
- Can a producer see and control more than scenes if I am not at my PC?
Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
What is the best IRL streaming server?
For most serious IRL streamers who want a managed show with fallback scenes and producer access, StreamableRun is our pick, because OBS runs in the cloud rather than on a home PC. IRLHost fits a streamer who already has a dependable home PC with OBS and wants a relay in front of it. Choose by where you want OBS to live and who needs to help during the stream.
Do I need SRTLA or Cloud OBS?
They answer different questions. SRTLA bonds several connections, like Wi-Fi and cellular, so the feed from your phone is steadier. Cloud OBS is where the finished show is composed and sent to Twitch, Kick, or YouTube. Many streamers use both: SRTLA from Moblin or IRL Pro into a Cloud OBS ingest. If you only change one thing, SRTLA helps the feed and Cloud OBS helps everything after it.
Is IRLHost a Cloud OBS service?
Partly. According to IRLHost's own pages, its relay tier sends your feed to OBS on your own PC, while a higher tier called IRLHost Studio runs OBS in the cloud through a browser. So if you are comparing IRLHost Studio with StreamableRun, you are comparing two cloud options. This guide focuses on the relay-to-home-PC flow because that is the product shape its comparison post describes.
What if I have no home PC to run OBS?
Then a relay-to-home-PC setup is the wrong shape, and you should look at a cloud option, either IRLHost Studio or StreamableRun. Compare fallback behavior, remote operators, and destinations, and test each privately first.
Can I use StreamableRun with the same phone app I use now?
Probably. StreamableRun offers ingest types for Moblin, IRL Pro, BELABOX, LiveU SRT, general SRT or SRTLA senders, and RTMP. Check the encoder you use against the ingest list in your dashboard, and run a private test before an event.
